Charis Ibeh (SS3)
My typical school day kicks off with a 5:30 am start. Waking up this early, gives me enough time to get ready so I can arrive at school on time. The morning bell goes off at 7:45am to indicate the start of the school day and depending on what day it is, we either have a whole school Assembly or Pastoral. Assemblies typically feature readings, reflections, and announcements from various students and staff members while Pastoral examines student and community issues and sometimes includes outside speakers, musical presentations and other opportunities for students to participate.
Assembly/Pastoral ends by 8:00am and classes begin right away with eight periods lasting 40 minutes each. We have two breaks during the day as well as lunch at 12 pm. Lunch is one of my favorite times of the day especially on Mondays when the lunch for the day is fried rice, chicken and coleslaw. Classes end at 2:35pm and other activities such as Study Hall, Sports or Clubs then begin.
Club activities are held on Mondays and Wednesdays and Fridays between 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, that time is devoted to re-enforcement lessons. Thursdays are also a sports day for us where we engage in soccer, volleyball basketball and other sports. School closes for the day at 4:00 pm except on Fridays when school ends at 1:00 pm
