Students at Premier have many opportunities to be involved with extracurricular activities in Athletics, Arts, Community Service, Leadership development or Travel:
There are two types of clubs at PIS; uniform-based clubs (such as MAD science, swimming, martial arts, boys scouts and girls guides) and subject-based clubs (such as press/media, drama, arts, JETS and French. Every pupil/student is expected to join at least one of each type of club. The choice of membership of any club by the pupil/student is based on the child’s interest, temperament and attitude. Students are required to be in at least 2 clubs but can select up to 3 clubs if they prefer. Clubs to choose from include:
In addition to the daily play time and the weekly physical education period required for every pupil/student, Premier pupils/students also have the opportunity to develop themselves in sports and athletics activities through clubs like the football academy and through the bi-annual inter-house sports competition. PIS students also compete regularly in sporting activities organized by other schools or by the FCT state government.
Premier boasts a thriving arts community. Students can participate in the Arts by joining an art-based club such as drama, music, dance, ballet, etc. Creative Arts is also a compulsory subject for all students from pre-school to the Junior Secondary School.
Every year, PIS hosts Charity week in the last week of May (Children’s week). In the weeks leading up to the event, the school holds a donation drive where students and parents are encouraged to donate gifts in cash and kind, which will be gifted to the underprivileged members of society. During charity week, the students visit various less-privileged organizations such as orphanages, old people’s homes, IDPs, etc. where the gifts are donated.
Students have opportunities to take part in educational domestic and international travel through their clubs. Trips in the past have included visits to Cross River State (Obudu Resort), Ghana and the United Kingdom.
