The following programs and courses are available in the sixth form school at PIS
AMERICAN CURRICULUM-BASED PROGRAMS: these programs are primarily designed to prepare prospective students for the undergraduate admission into universities and colleges in the United States and Canada, outstanding students with high scores in these examinations are qualified for partial/full scholarship in their schools of choice.
The undergraduate programs are:
SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST (SAT1/REASONING TEST):
This is the most widely used admissions test among colleges and universities, it assesses the basic knowledge of subjects (strictly Mathematics and Verbal based for SAT1) learned inside and outside the classroom as well as how one thinks, solve problems and communicates. The SAT is offered seven (7) times a year in the United States/U.S. territories and six (6) times a year internationally.
The highest score obtainable in the new SAT/SAT1 is 1600
THE SUBJECT TEST (SAT2) :
Assesses the basic knowledge of all subjects: a candidate is required to write a maximum of three (3) subjects depending on the intended course of study and the university/college’s admission requirements. SAT2 is not required for admission in some schools in the United States thus at PIS, we confirm the admission requirements for the intended college/university of study before registering our students for any international test/program.
TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (TOEFL): :
As the name implies, the test is designed for international students seeking admission into colleges/universities in the United States, whose native/ first language is not English: their knowledge of the English language is tested in the area of Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. The test is strictly the internet-based type or TOEFL (ibt) in Nigeria: the test is written monthly throughout the year at designated centers all over the country. The overall score obtainable in the TOEFL (ibt) is 120.
BRITISH-CURRICULUM BASED PROGRAMS AT PIS SIXTH FORM:
These programs are primarily designed to prepare prospective students for undergraduate admission into universities and colleges in the United Kingdom and Australia.
CAMBRIDGE ADVANCED LEVEL EXAMINATIONS :(AS/A2 CORE)
Cambridge International A/AS Levels are internationally benchmarked qualifications providing excellent preparation for university education. They are part of the Cambridge Advanced stage. They are taken in over 125 countries and offer a choice of 60 different subjects. Cambridge International A/AS Level qualifications are widely recognized and valued by universities and employers alike. Some US universities give up to a year’s credit as a result. Every year, thousands of Cambridge International A- Level students gain places at good universities worldwide – including the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
Schools and learners find Cambridge International A and AS Levels very flexible. Schools can offer almost any combination of the wide choice of subjects available. Learners have the freedom to select the subjects that are right for them – they either follow a broad course of study, or specialize in a particular area.
Cambridge International AS Level
Cambridge International AS Levels have half the content of the corresponding Cambridge International A- Level and may be completed in one year. Schools can offer Cambridge International AS Level as a qualification in its own right or as a stage on the way to Cambridge International A- Level. Learners can study Cambridge International AS Level alongside other subjects to increase breadth in the curriculum and build further knowledge and understanding to other subjects they are studying at Cambridge International A- Level.
Flexibility
Schools and learners find Cambridge International A and AS Levels very flexible. Schools can offer almost any combination of the wide choice of subjects available. Learners have the freedom to select the subjects that are right for them – they either follow a broad course of study, or specialize in a particular area. Learners can choose from a range of assessment options:
Assessment options
Option 1 Take all papers of the Cambridge International A Level course in the same examination session, usually at the end of the second year of study
Option 2 Take a ‘staged’ assessment route – take the Cambridge International AS Level in one examination session and complete the final Cambridge International A Level at a subsequent session*
Option 3 Take the Cambridge International AS Level only, either at the end of a one-year or two-year course. The Cambridge International AS Level syllabus content is half the Cambridge International A Level program.
International relevance
Cambridge International A and AS Level syllabuses have been created specifically for an international audience. The content of International A and AS Levels is carefully devised to suit the wide variety of Cambridge schools worldwide and avoid any cultural bias. The structure and administration of Cambridge International A and AS Levels are also designed to meet the needs of our schools and learners around the world.
Assessment
Cambridge International A and AS Level examination sessions occur twice a year June and November, with results issued in August and January respectively. Cambridge International A and AS Levels use a wide range of assessment processes and techniques to supplement formal written examinations – practical, orals, projects and coursework of differing types are all used in various subjects where they are the most effective and appropriate means of measuring attainment.
INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM (IELTS/IELTS UKVI):

The overall IELTS point is 9.0 and at PIS we boast of outstanding scores for our students and candidates!
DEGREE FOUNDATION PROGRAMMES AT PIS:
To offer an alternative pathway to higher education/degree programmes in the United Kingdom, the degree foundation programme is a year length university preparatory for admission into specified universities in the UK as an alternative to the A-level examinations. We also have similar programmes as alternative pathway to higher education in Canada, United States and Nigeria
EXECUTIVE GRADUATE PROGRAMS AT PIS :

GRADUATE MANAGEMENT ADMISSION TEST (GMAT): :
This is an online aptitude test designed for non-science graduates seeking postgraduate admission into colleges/universities in the United States, Canada, and the UK. It generally assesses the ability of the candidate in Mathematics and English through Critical Reading, Quantitative, and Writing.
The GMAT is within the score range of 200-800.
GRADUATE RECORDS EXAMINATION (GRE): :
This is an online aptitude test designed for the Science and Engineering graduates seeking postgraduate admission into colleges/universities in the United States, Canada and the UK. It generally assesses the ability of the candidate in Mathematics and English through Critical Reading, Quantitative and Writing. The GRE is rated over 1700.
It’s important to reiterate that the choice of entry test for postgraduate admissions is strictly determined by the postgraduate admission board of the school: prospective students are advised to consult the school website for the required entry test before registering for any of the tests enumerated above.
The GMAT and GRE are written monthly at designated centers in the country and they are both computer adaptive test, none of the tests is hand written.
